The simplest modification of the described trap can be a trap barrel closed with a swinging lid mounted on a horizontal rotating axis. The most common type of trap is a spring trap. A steel spring is mounted on a wooden plank, from which a reclining arc departs; this arc is held when charging the trap by an overlay, the end of which is equipped with a hook; the bait is mounted on this hook. When the bait moves, and with it the hook, the latter releases the pad, and the arc instantly tilts back with great force and kills the rat or mouse. For the success of this trap, it is recommended to hang it on the wall, placing it at a height accessible to the rodent. In this case, when eating the bait, the animal is located at the diameter of the trap arc, where the spring release force is greatest and crushing of the rodent is inevitable. In addition, the hanging trap does not interfere with cleaning and movement in the room, it becomes less clogged. When charging the trap, care must be taken so that the spring does not slip off the stop and does not damage the fingers of the loader.

The described small spring trap is used against mice (the length of the plate is up to 12 cm) and against rats (the plate is more than 15 cm). By carefully charging the trap and recharging it every time after catching an animal, you can catch several dozen specimens in one night.

In addition to traps and traps, they use traps to kill rats. Of the various types of traps used, the simplest device has a trap tub.
